PUBLIC AUCTIONS
Public auctions are held primarily for the disposal of
confiscated items and other items obtained by the New Bern Police Department.
These auctions are scheduled annually. Notice of such auctions is published
in the local newspaper and provides information on the items, terms of
sale, and auction date and time.
If you are interested in being placed on our mailing list for auction
notices, contact the Warehouse Manager at (252) 639-2800 or submit your
mailing address via email to purchasing@newbern-nc.org.
INTERNET AUCTIONS
The City of New Bern has expanded its surplus disposal
methods to include online internet auctions. Select property is auctioned
through GovDeals, an online auction service. This provides the City the
opportunity to dispose of surplus items on an ongoing basis.
Registration with GovDeals is required in order to bid on an item, but
is not required to view listed items. Items are posted as they become available
and are sold “as is, where is”. A full disclosure of the terms
of each sale is posted with the item being sold.
To check for current surplus items, visit
www.govdeals.com. Click on the link titled "Click here to go directly to the GovDeals
auction”,
select “Advanced Search” and choose “New Bern, NC” from
the seller list. If our name is not listed in the seller list, we do
not currently have surplus items available for auction.
