New Bern Fire-Rescue is certified by the Office of the State Fire Marshal as a "Permanent Checking Station."  Currently, 27 certified awareness level and 13 certified technicians are on staff to perform

child passenger safety seat inspections.  An average of 25 child passenger safety inspections are done each month. 

Child passenger safety seat inspections are conducted at the Headquarters Fire Station, every Friday, 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM on a first-come/first-serve basis.
