The New Bern Fire Prevention Bureau is lead by Deuty Chief, Henry A. Watson, who also serves as the City's Fire Marshal.  Deputy Chief Watson is a Certified Arson Investigator through the North Carolina State Fire Marshal’s Office.  He is also an International Fire Investigator through the International Association of Arson Investigators.  This certification qualifies him to perform arson investigations in fourteen countries.

Lieutenant Daniel T. Hill, Jr.

Fire Inspector Hill joined New Bern Fire-Rescue in January, 1997 as a Fire Specialist.  He was promoted to Fire Inspector in August, 2004 and to Lieutenant in September, 2005.  His responsibilities as Fire Inspector include routine and scheduled fire inspections, assisting with fire investigations, and conducting fire and life safety education throughout the jurisdiction.

Fire Inspector Hill’s accomplishments include: Fire Officer I, Fire Fighter II, Driver Operator, Medical Responder, North Carolina Fire Inspector Level I, Probationary Level II, Fire And Life Safety Educator II, Emergency Rescue Technician, Hazardous Materials Operation level, North Carolina Fire Level II Instructor, and North Carolina Emergency Vehicle Driver Instructor.

Lt. Hill is also a member of New Bern Fire-Rescue's Honor Guard.

Jeremy L. Blalock

Fire Inspector

Fire Inspector Blalock joined New Bern Fire-Rescue as a Fire Specialist in January, 2003, and was promoted to Fire Inspector in June, 2006.  Inspector Blalock's responsibilities as Fire Inspector include routine and scheduled fire inspections, conducting fire and life safety education, and assisting with fire investigations.

Fire Inspector Blalock's certifications include:  Firefighter Level II, Driver Operator, Emergency Rescue Technician, Surface Water Rescue Technician, Hazardous Materials Operations Level, Survive Air Certified SCBA Technician, Fire Inspector Level I, Probationary Level II, Fire and Life Safety Educator Level I, Medical Responder, and Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician. 

In addition, Inspector Blalock also serves as a member of the New Bern Fire-Rescue Honor Guard, Technical Rescue Team, and Puppet Troupe.
