New Bern Fire-Rescue performs their own testing and maintenance of our Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA). We have a state-of-the art room dedicated to testing and maintaining our breathing apparatus. Testing includes annual demand breathing tests, and every six years the units are taken apart and a complete overhaul is performed. Currently, there are five certified technicians. A certification class has been scheduled for March, 2005 to incorporate four more personnel to the team.

New Bern Fire-Rescue uses Survivair equipment and their staff of qualified technicians to assist us with problems that might occur. The dynamic breathing unit we use is a Biosystem Posicheck 3, which helps our technicians to determine any problems the SCBA unit might have. We understand the importance of having SCBA our personnel can depend on.
