Annual Benefits Fair
Employees are provided an opportunity
to evaluate their existing benefits and make any changes during this enrollment
period.
Educational Assistance Program
The City of New Bern is
interested in your efforts to further your education and training. Financial
Assistance is available under this program to qualified regular, full-time
employees who have successfully completed their probationary period and
are engaged in educational activities which are directly supportive of
their present position with the City of New Bern.
Employee Assistance Program
The city recognizes that
promoting the emotional and physical health of all employees is essential.
Therefore the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) has been established because
employees are our most important resource.
Employee Newsletter
"Bear Facts” the employee
newsletter is published twice annually to inform employees of city activities.
Employee Safety Programs
The city has established a Safety
Program with rules and regulations that apply to all employees. These policies
aide the city in complying with all State and Federal safety and health
regulations.
Family Medical Leave
The city provides twelve (12) weeks
of paid or unpaid "protected
leave" for all eligible employees who have been employed for at least
twelve (12) months and who have worked at least one thousand two
hundred and fifty (1250) hours during the previous twelve (12) month period.

Shared Leave Donation Program
An employee may donate sick and/or annual leave to an employee
who has been approved to receive shared leave due to the serious health condition
of the employee or of a family member that will require the employee’s
absence for a prolonged period of time.
