Welcome to the New Bern Planning and Inspections website. We hope you
find this site useful. We believe citizen participation is essential to
efficient and accountable government. Please take some time to browse around
and let us know what you think of our site.
The New Bern Planning and Inspection Department’s primary focus
of responsibility is providing assistance to
the community in developing
plans, ordinances, implementing projects, and administering codes that
produce orderly growth while maintaining community character and New Bern’s
small town charm.
Citizen volunteers are important to this Department’s mission. Our
staff provides support to six citizen boards, Planning
and Zoning
Board, Board of Adjustment,
Historic Preservation Commission,
Neuse
River Community Development Corporation,
the Greater Duffyfield Residents Council and the Five Points Revitalization Advisory Board.
