Office of the Chief

The New Bern Police Department

A Message from the Chief of Police

Welcome to the New Bern Police Department's web site.  We appreciate your interest, and encourage you to visit us here often.

Strong connections between our Department and the citizens we serve have always been very important to us.  They are also the primary reason for the success of our Community Policing efforts here in New Bern thus far.

We want to build on these efforts and encourage your participation as New Bern grows year after year.  That's why this web site provides you with a variety of information on how our Department works, its outstanding personnel, and a number of community based programs to get you and your family involved.

We host a Citizens Police Academy to educate residents about the inner workings of our Department.  Furthermore, our officers are very active in neighborhood watch groups and hold board positions in numerous civic and business organizations.  However, quality community programs aren't just limited to adults.  New Bern police officers operate a Summer Day Camp, as well as the Explorers and the award-winning Young Marines programs.

We hope that you'll find this information useful in getting to know us better.  As always, we invite your comments, by filling out the "Citizens Survey" located on this site, and look forward to continuing to work with you to create a dynamic future for the City of New Bern.

Sincerely,

Frank Palombo, Chief of Police
