Lieutenant Lovick is from historic New Bern, North Carolina. His career with the New Bern Police Department began in January of 1989.
Lieutenant Lovick attended Basic Law Enforcement Training at the North Carolina Justice Academy in 1989 and attended Craven Community College graduating with an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice. He is also a graduate of North Carolina Wesleyan College where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Justice Studies in 2004. Lovick attended a Management Development Program at North Carolina Justice Academy and also received an advanced certificate from N.C. Justice Education Training and Standards Commission.
Lieutenant Lovick has worked as a patrol officer, traffic officer, field training officer and narcotics investigator. He was awarded by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration for outstanding organized crime drug investigation with DEA, ATF and multi-jurisdiction drug task force.
Lieutenant Lovick was promoted to the rank of sergeant supervising patrol team 4; patrol tactical team (PTT) aka Rock Squad. He was promoted to Lieutenant on December 31, 2006 and is currently serving as District II Commander for the Operations Division.
