Police - Operations

The City of New Bern is divided into two patrol areas called districts, and they are named District 1 and District 2. Each district is supervised by a New Bern Police Lieutenant.

District 1 is divided into three zones, titled 111, 112, and 113.

District 2 is divided into two zones, titled 221 and 222.

The Operations Division is the largest and most visible division within the Police Department. Consisting of mostly uniformed patrol officers, they are the first to respond to calls for service.  The Operations Division consists of three sections:  District 1, District 2 and Special Operations.

-- Patrol Evidence Technicians - Patrol Officers trained to process crime scenes for evidence

-- Patrol Criminal Investigators - Plain clothes officers assigned to each patrol shift to investigate               criminal complaints

-- Non-Sworn Parking Control Officer - Assigned to the downtown business district, the Parking Control      Officer enforces city ordinances regarding parking
