Tony is survived by his wife, Shelia; two sons, Joshua and Adam; father, Emmett; brother, Curtis and sister-in-law, Diane; daughter-in-law, Kimberly (Joshua); and a host of other relatives and friends, as well as his co-workers at the New Bern Parks and Recreation Department. Tony was also well known by many City employees.

 

We are saddened by the loss of Tony. He was our co-worker and our friend. He was a man who viewed working at the City of New Bern as a hobby that paid the bills. His “real” job and the pride of his life truly was his family.

 

We shed our personal tears of loss for Tony and his family at his funeral, and in the days since. However, we can now laugh at some of the funny memories, stories, and jokes that seem to somehow come to mind after his passing. This is the gift that Tony left for us…his gift of laughter and sense of humor.

 

A photographic memorial will be placed at the Parks and Recreation Administration Building, as well as the Parks Division headquarters, in Tony’s honor. A tree planting and park bench dedication will be held at a later date.
