TyShawn participated in the local NBA/WNBA Fit Challenge hosted by New Ber Parks and Recreation on November 4, 2009 at the West New Bern Recreation Center along with over 100 other participants ages 5-14.  TyShawn qualifed for the State meet in Charlotte where he place 3rd in his age group.

The NBA/WNBA Fit Challenge is a competition to encourage physical activity amoung youth.
