Hook A Kid on Golf
New Bern Parks & Rec. is hosting its annual Hook a Kid on Golf program. This program is for any child between the ages of 8-14 that would like to learn how to play golf. The purpose of the Hook a Kid on Golf Program is to introduce the sport to youngsters in the community as well as encourage them to learn the rules, etiquette and history of the sport. The program will run for Girls July 15-18 and Boys July 22-25th and will be held at Carolina Pines Country Club. The cost of this program is $125.00 kids will receive a set of golf clubs along with 4 days of instruction. Color Splash Summer Camp
Color Splash summer camp is a unique, total-art immersion, summer program for kids in the 6th-8th grades who LOVE art! Campers will be encouraged to experiment, to seek out their own artistic interests, and learn at their own pace while being challenged to broaden their horizons. Color Splash will have two (2) four week sessions (June 17-July 12, 2013) & (July 15- August 9, 2013)). The camp will operate 9am-4pm daily at West New Bern Recreation Center. Swim Lessons
New Bern Parks and Recreation Department will be offering four 2-week sessions of Learn-To-Swim Lessons, for children ages 4-12, at the New Bern Aquatic Center, 1155 Laura Lane, beginning June 18th. Cost for each session is: $40 for City residents and $70 for non-City residents. There are eight lessons per session.
Registration begins May 6th for City residents and May 20th for non-City residents. Registration forms and program information is available at the Aquatic Center, West New Bern Recreation Center, Stanley White Recreation Center, Parks and Recreation Administration, and on-line at www.newbern-nc.org … select Parks and Recreation.

Summer Ceramic Classes
Summer Ceramic Classes offered at West New Bern Recreation Center begins on Thursday, June 20th. Class times are Thursday Evenings 6pm-9pm and Friday afternoon 12-3pm. Space is filled on a first come first serve basis. Registration fee is $25 for city residents and $30 for all others. Classes are limited to 15 students each so come in to secure your space. VIP Trips
We have teamed up with Craven County Services for the Blind and are now offering trips for visually impaired persons. Trips have included visits to the North Carolina Library for the Blind in Raleigh, Lions Industries for the Blind in Kinston, the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher, the Spice Boquet in Kinston, and an upcoming movie studio tour in Wilmington.

VIP Fishing Tournament
New Bern Parks and Recreation is proud to be a part of this annual trip to the Outer Banks. For years, we have provided transportation to Craven County's Visually Impaired People so that they may enjoy themselves on this week-long adventure. The 2008 trip proved very fruitful for one special VIP, Pete Pederman. Pete came in 1st place for cathching the most fish from our boat, The Crystal Dawn.

Lil’ KidsStuff Corner
at Mumfest
New Bern Parks and Recreation coordinates the kids corner for Mumfest. Geared especially for kids 10 and under, Lil’ KidsStuff offers physical activities, arts and crafts, jump-rope contests, a puppet show, and more. A baby-changing station is also provided for parent's convenience. Join us for fun, games, activities, and more.

Preschool Parade
This annual October parade is for preschool age children and their parents or teachers. Children dress in their Halloween costumes and parade down Middle Street and into Union Point Park. Registration is necessary for groups.

Flotilla
New Bern Parks and Recreation proudly hosts the 28th Annual Coastal Christmas Flotilla! This magical evening kicks off the Christmas season in New Bern with lots of bright lights, beautiful boats, and music. Santa greets the children in Union Point Park afterwards.
