SPECIAL NOTICE FOR BOATERS:

Due to the 4th of July celebration in Lawson Creek Park, boat launches will be closed the following times:

New Bern Parks & Recreation invites you to LAWSON CREEK PARK on July 4th for an afternoon packed with fun and excitement.  Pack a picnic and plan to spend this great American holiday in historic New Bern!  We welcome coolers and service animals, but prohibit alcohol, glass containers, fireworks, and all other pets.

Kinston Indians Trip

Come and see exciting  professional baseball action without having to drive.  New Bern Parks and Recreation Department sponsors an annual Kinston Indians Trip.

Come out and show off your best moves.  Competition is stiff, so be ready to play hard.  Registration begins at 6:00 pm and trounament begins at 6:30 pm.

Shopping Trips

Do you like to go shopping, but don’t like the drive? Let us take you! Ride in the comfort of our activity bus.  Our next trip will be to The Streets at Southpoint.  Sign up today at West New Bern Recreation Center. Seating Limited!

VIP Trips

We have teamed up with Craven County Services for the Blind and are now offering trips for visually impaired persons.  Trips have included visits to the North Carolina Library for the Blind in Raleigh, Lions Industries for the Blind in Kinston, and the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher.

VIP Fishing Trip

New Bern Parks and Recreation is proud to be a part of this annual trip to the Outer Banks. For years, we have provided transportation to the Craven County's Visually Impaired People so that they may enjoy themselves on this week-long adventure. The 2008 trip proved very fruitful for one special VIP, Pete Pederman.  Pete came in 1st place for cathching the most fish from our boat, The Crystal Dawn.

Bike MS

This annual September event is coordinated by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Eastern Carolina Chapter.  The event draws thousands of cyclists, volunteers, family members, and fans to New Bern each fall. Pictured to the right are members of New Bern Parks and Recreation's Outdoor Adventure Club (OAC).

Lil’ KidsStuff Corner

at Mumfest


New Bern Parks and Recreation coordinates the kids corner for Mumfest. Geared especially for kids 10 and under, Lil’ KidsStuff offers physical activities, arts and crafts, jump-rope contests, a puppet show, and more. A baby-changing station is also provided for parent's convenience. Join us for fun, games, activities, and more.

Preschool Parade

This annual October parade is for preschool age children and parents.  Children dress in their Halloween costumes and parade down Middle Street and into Union Point Park.  Registration is necessary.

Begins at the corner of Broad and Middle Street, downtown New Bern.  In the case of inclement weather, we will parade at the West New Bern Recreation Center at 1225 Pine Tree Drive.

Coastal Christmas

Flotilla

New Bern Parks and Recreation is proud to host the annual Coastal Christmas Flotilla!  Join us for a magical evening of bright lights, beautiful boats, and music.  The Marine Corps Band will play while the boats are parading down the river.  Santa will hitch a ride aboard "The Hatterascal", to greet the children in Union Point Park.

Festival of Fun


This annual event has become one of Eastern North Carolina’s best children’s festivals!  Each year, approximately 4,000 people join us at Union Point Park for a day full of games, arts & crafts, educational information, and fun.
