Educational Information

The City of New Bern has an active educational campaign within the community. Each year, the City welcomes students who visit and tour the water and wastewater treatment plants as part of their curriculum for the year. Our state-of-the-art treatment facilities offer a wonderful opportunity for students to see first hand how biology, chemistry, and physics are applied to the everyday functions of producing drinking water and treating wastewater. We also host tours for civic organizations and individuals interested in how the plants operate. For further information or to schedule a tour, please contact the Water Plant Manager at (252)639-7553 or the Wastewater Treatment Plant Manger at (252)639-7555.
