Organized. Committed. Community partners.

The New Bern Police Department is a firm believer in the success of Community Policing, and recognizes the importance of citizen participation in keeping neighborhoods safe.  There are Neighborhood Watch Groups throughout the city, and we welcome you to join one in your area.  Contact the Chairperson in your neighborhood for information about meeting times, activities and events.  Below is list of organized community groups and the Community Policing District where they are located.

National Night Out

Crabearne_Forest_014.jpgNational Night Out is an annual event that brings communities together for crime prevention. It has been held in communities around the United States since 1984 and is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW).

New Bern's National Night Out Committee, in partnership with New Bern Police, organizes this local event thanks to countless volunteer hours.  We celebrate "community" and bring thousands together to have fun.  Dozens of community service organizations participate with us each year in support of health and safety.

We greatly appreciate the generosity of all individuals and organizations who help make this event possible.

It is a night for celebrating safety and crime prevention successes and strengthening our relationships year after year.  Visit the National Association of Town Watch website for more on National Night Out.

Click here for a list of our Neighborhood Watch Groups. Don't see one for your neighborhood and want to start one? We'd like to help! If your neighborhood is not on the list, that means there is no established Neighborhood Watch Group or the one in your area has become inactive. To start one, contact Officer Katrina Longmire at (252)672-4295.
