4th of July Celebration

The City of New Bern is planning an exciting July 4th celebration. Fireworks begin at 9:15pm at Lawson Creek Park. Come earlier to make it a day full of fun along the riverfront! 
Details below.

Union Point Park

5 pm: Park opens
5:30 pm: Food & beverage concessions open
7-9 pm: Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point 2nd MAW Band plays
*Coolers welcome. No grills, glass, alcohol, fireworks or pets. Service animals are permitted.

Lawson Creek Park

5 pm: Park opens
5:30 pm: Misting tent, bounce houses, games, food & beverage concessions open
9:15 pm: Fireworks!
*Coolers welcome. No grills, glass, alcohol, fireworks or pets. Service animals are permitted. Bicyclists are asked to refrain from riding inside the park.
*Boat launch 2 (east end of the park) & Jack's Island closed from 11 pm July 3 through 11 pm July 4th.
*Boat launch 1 (near Thalmann Field) closes at 6 pm July 4th. If you are still on the water after 6 pm you will be blocked from accessing the boat ramp until after the fireworks show.

Parking at Lawson Creek Park

Handicap accessible parking available near the Blue Angels jet.
Other parking inside Lawson Creek Park is available on a first-come, first-serve basis on the soccer field adjacent to Hwy. 70.
Parking is also available at Temple Baptist Church or take the shuttle from Stanley White Rec Center. Shuttle service begins at 5pm and runs approximately every half hour.

US Highway 70 West exit ramp to Country Club Road will be closed to all traffic immediately prior to the fireworks show. Traffic approaching the park from US Highway 70 East or from Trent Woods/Pembroke will be directed onto US 70 West immediately prior to the fireworks show. No traffic will be permitted onto First Street.

After the Show

All traffic exiting Lawson Creek Park will turn left toward US Highway 70 East/West & Country Club Road.

Fireworks Rain Date: Thursday, July 5th at Lawson Creek Park. Park opens at 7 pm and fireworks begin at 9:15 pm. This is a fireworks only event. Shuttle service available from Stanley White Rec Center beginning at 7 pm.

City offices will be closed Wednesday, July 4th. Trash and recycling services will run as normal.
