New Bern Fire-Rescue

Welcome to the official website of New Bern Fire-Rescue (NBFR).  As the oldest chartered fire department in the State of North Carolina, we hope you will enjoy reading about our rich history and continued growth.  A combination fire department, NBFR is currently comprised of 65 career firefighters and 20 volunteer firefighters who are dedicated to providing fire suppression, fire prevention and administrative duties.  We also provide other services such as a Child Passenger Safety Seat Program, Project Alert (Smoke Detector Program), Safety Troupe (clowns), Puppeteers, Color Guard (includes Pipe & Drum Band), Emergency Medical Services, and Technical Rescue Team.  In addition, our USAR (Urban Search & Rescue) Team is part of the North Carolina Task Force 10 Team.

NBFR protects the approximate 28.5 square miles of the City of New Bern from 3 fire stations which house 3 fire engines, 1 Quint, 1 aerial ladder truck, 1 support vehicle, and 3 rescue/fire boats.  In addition, NBFR opened its new training academy in April, 2005.

Thank you for visiting the NBFR website.  We trust that you will find it helpful and informative. To request additional information, please refer to the “Contact Us” page.
