ABOUT US

Welcome to the official website of New Bern Fire-Rescue (NBFR).  As the oldest chartered fire department in the State of North Carolina, we hope you will enjoy reading about our rich history and continued growth.  A combination fire department, NBFR is currently comprised of 54 career firefighters and 25 volunteer firefighters who are dedicated to providing fire suppression, fire prevention and administrative duties.  We also provide other services such as a Child Passenger Safety Seat Program, Project Alert (Smoke Detector Program), Safety Troupe, Color Guard, Technical Rescue Team, and Emergency Medical Services.  NBFR protects the approximate 27 square miles of the City of New Bern from 3 fire stations that house 5 fire engines, 1 aerial ladder truck, 3 support vehicles, and 2 fire boats.  In addition, NBFR opened its new training academy in April, 2005.  Thank you for visiting the NBFR website.
